This update officially introduces QR Pick to the world and brings the highly requested "Quick Full Scan" feature to your desktop.

🚀 Key Highlights

1. Hello, QR Pick!

We’ve said goodbye to "MacQRScanner" and embraced a new identity: QR Pick. The name represents our goal—to let you "pick" information off your screen as easily as picking up a coin.

2. Quick Full Scan

Tired of selecting areas? Now you can scan your entire screen with a single click.

  • Auto-Detection: The app automatically crawls your current display to find any valid QR or Barcode.
  • Smart Conflict Resolution: When multiple codes are found, QR Pick won't guess. It will ask you to use the "Area Scan" for precise targeting, preventing accidental link openings.

🛠 Improvements

  • Performance Boost: Optimized the temporary image processing logic, reducing scan latency by approximately 30%.
  • Updated UI: All dialogs and menus have been updated with the new branding and refined iconography.

Note: Since the app is not Apple-certified, please right-click the app in Finder and select "Open" to bypass the initial security warning. Ensure "Screen Recording" permission is enabled in System Settings.

v1.0.0 — The Birth of QR Pick

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of QR Pick (v1.0.0)! 🥳

QR Pick was born out of a simple need: a fast, lightweight, and privacy-respecting way to scan QR codes and barcodes directly from a Mac screen without having to reach for a smartphone.

🌟 Key Features in this Initial Release

  • Precision Area Scanning: Use the native macOS selection tool to pick any QR/Bar code on your screen.
  • Smart Data Parsing:
    • WiFi: Instantly extracts SSIDs and passwords.
    • URLs: Recognizes web links for one-click browsing.
    • Email: Parses mailto and MATMSG formats for quick communication.
    • Text: Handles plain text for easy clipboard copying.
  • 100% Local & Private: No data ever leaves your machine. The app works entirely offline.
  • Minimalist UI: A clean, SwiftUI-powered interface that stays out of your way until you need it.

🛡 Privacy Commitment

From day one, QR Pick is designed to be a "Zero-Trust" utility. It requires Screen Recording permissions to "see" the codes, but it does not store images, record video, or connect to any remote servers. What you scan stays with you.

📥 Getting Started

  1. Download the QR-Pick-v1.0.0.zip from the Assets below.
  2. Move it to your /Applications folder.
  3. Grant the necessary Screen Recording permissions in System Settings.

Thank you for being part of our first release! If you find QR Pick useful, please consider starring the project on GitHub or sharing your feedback.
